Golf Academy of America Launches Progressive Partnership -- an all new, Contemporary Approach to a Golf-Centric Career through Education
Partnership with New England College of Business offers path to Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Golf Academy of America breaks new ground in leveraging education and real world training to springboard students into careers in the golf industry. The $76 billion golf industry is changing on a daily basis, and the industry's success relies on evolutionary leadership. To continue to fill positions with highly qualified professionals, Golf Academy of America — a leader in educating and preparing students for success in the golf industry — has partnered with New England College of Business (NECB) to provide a progressive golf education path.
Through the partnership, Golf Academy of America graduates will take part in a quicker path to a bachelor's degree program. This path begins with an associate's degree in golf operations and complex management. Then, through New England College of Business, students pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In less than four years, graduates would have two degrees, a foundational set of skills and training, and valuable, in-field work experience, all of which is in demand by the industry according to employers who hire Golf Academy of America graduates.
"I hire Golf Academy of America graduates before any others, and this new partnership will provide those graduates with skills and experience not met by any other golf education program," said Todd Sones, Top 50 Golf Instructor by "Golf Digest," owner of Todd Sones Impact Golf and Advisory Board Member to Golf Academy of America. "In an industry that can be difficult to understand, Golf Academy of America is leading the charge to reinvigorate the golf business through a comprehensive new approach to training and educating future industry leaders."
Concentrations offered at NECB include accounting, banking and finance, business management, and marketing — all of which complement a golf management degree. The online courses are designed for motivated students, as their flexibility allows, including full-time employed adults, to work in the field while they pursue a degree.
"The golf industry, as is the case with all our major national sports, is an immense business enterprise," said Howard Horton, president of NECB. "Successful managers require competence in marketing, finance, operations and human resources. With our acclaimed online learning platform, NECB is the institution at which golf professionals can attain these requisite skills and can position themselves for further career, and personal, growth."
Not only can students who complete both programs earn valuable work experience while pursuing their degrees, they will also receive 12 credits toward the PGA Membership certification.
"Our students are passionate about golf — and not just playing it," said Geoff Baird, president of Golf Academy of America. "This partnership with New England College of Business provides a unique opportunity not yet seen in the golf education industry. The NECB Bachelor of Science degree coupled with our expertise in trade, golf-industry-specific skills prepares students for golf-career success."
