Golden Seeds Names Liz Brown First Executive Director of Boston Forum
NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Golden Seeds, an investment firm dedicated to achieving above market returns for investors through the empowerment of women entrepreneurs, today announced that Liz Brown has been named as the first Executive Director of its Boston Forum. Brown will oversee the management of the Boston Forum operations, with a primary focus on building membership in the region and organizing members to participate in the investment process.
Founded by Stephanie Hanbury-Brown in 2004, Golden Seeds is the fourth-largest angel investor network in the United States, consisting of approximately 200 men and women investing in high-growth businesses in which women have significant equity and a C-level role.
"The Boston Forum has grown significantly over the past few years. The addition of an Executive Director will support our continued growth and ensure efficient deal management and syndication as the group expands," said Hanbury-Brown. "We are excited that Liz Brown has agreed to serve in this new role. Her strong background in membership relations, combined with her years of experience in top law firms, will serve us well as we continue to build our presence in New England."
Brown specializes in supporting women's leadership roles in business. A former partner in the Boston office of Fish & Richardson, Brown formerly practiced law at Covington & Burling in San Francisco, served as President of the Harvard Law School Association of Northern California where she developed a regional alumnae network, and is a past president of the Harvard Law School Massachusetts Alumnae Network. A Malden native, Brown graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. "It's an honor to join such an impressive group of investors and entrepreneurs," said Brown. "I look forward to working with our members as we continue to grow the Boston Forum."
Golden Seeds' first Boston Forum Leaders, Jill Preotle and Jean Hammond, who remain active in the organization, started the forum in 2007. In 2009, Anita Brearton and Sheryl Schultz assumed the Forum Leader roles. Under their combined leadership, the Boston Forum has grown significantly. Brearton and Schultz will lead a newly formed Deal Flow Committee and will be focused on sourcing the best new deals across a variety of sectors.
Golden Seeds Boston invites any accredited investor who would like to learn more about membership to attend one of its monthly forums. For more information, please contact Joanna Moshman, Golden Seeds' Investor Liaison, at 1-888-629-6774 ext. 562 or [email protected].
