SAN MARCOS, Calif., Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Golden Door welcomes a stellar new art exhibition to The San Diego Museum of Art by hosting an elegant benefit dinner on Thursday, January 31. The event, held in the museum's Upper Rotunda and Art of Devotion gallery, features cuisine prepared by Golden Door Executive Chef Greg Frey Jr., themed décor and musicians.
The museum's upcoming exhibition, which opens May 18, showcases a diverse selection of paintings, sculpture and decorative arts produced during the Golden Age of Spain (about 1550 to 1600), one of the most pivotal and prolific times in art history. Art and Empire: The Golden Age of Spain is the first exhibition in the United States to expand the notion of "Golden Age" to include the Hispanic world beyond the Iberian Peninsula. The approximately 100 outstanding works to be displayed are from Spain and such far-flung Spanish-controlled areas as Antwerp, Naples, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.
"It is our honor to partner with The San Diego Museum of Art by sponsoring this important exhibition," said Kathy Van Ness, Golden Door General Manager and Chief Operating Officer. "Golden Door empowers and transforms the lives of our spa guests, and we believe in extending similar positive opportunities into our community. This exhibition is truly a 'golden opportunity' to broaden the experiences and enrich the lives of families and community members during a show with international scope."
