Going to the Caribbean This Winter? Here's What's New at Divi Resorts
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Oct. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Millions of tourists flock to the Caribbean each winter. (More than 25 million in 2013, per Travel Weekly.) It's not just the warm weather and water that lures people back again and again. Visitors are assured of something new every trip - restaurants, amenities, activities and updated decor – which makes each year's Caribbean vacation better than the last.
Major hotel brands continually up their game. Already appreciated for established standards, they enhance and improve season to season. Here is what is new at some of the eight Divi Resorts (http://www.diviresorts.com) across the Caribbean.
Barbados –
The new Pureocean restaurant at Divi Southwinds Beach Resort offers toes-in-the-sand bistro dining day and night. Dock-to-dish Bajan-themed cuisine features house-made chicken sausage, pudding and souse, and flying fish; even organic herbs and vegetables come from the resort's own greenhouse. Try the smoked shrimp, which the chef smokes right on the premises.
Bonaire –
Order a lionfish sandwich and help combat the invasion of this species into Caribbean waters. The general manager of Divi Flamingo Beach Resort organizes lionfish hunting expeditions for diving and environmental enthusiasts. The divers' haul becomes the "catch of the day - with a cause" at the resort's restaurant.
The calm, clear waters surrounding Bonaire are a great place to introduce children to the joys of diving and snorkeling. Kids get a kick out of night snorkeling with flashlights in the house reef, led by Divi Dive staff. For children 10 years and older, the resort provides the junior open water certification course.
St. Maarten –
Divi Little Bay Resort has expanded the variety of water sports located just steps from the lobby. Added this year: a three-hour snorkel boat tour exploring the St. Maarten coastline. Back on land, a new chef lightened up the menu for today's dining preferences. Chic cabanas and day beds now await loungers.
Aruba –
Reserve a barbeque gazebo with built-in grill, sink and even a hammock at the Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort. Revitalize the skin at the spacious new hamman spa, with 11 treatment rooms. Or enjoy a massage al fresco. The resort's 30 golf villas, overlooking the ocean-view course, have been beautifully refurbished.
Deals also await. Divi Resorts is offering 30 percent off standard rates for Caribbean vacations now through 2015, except Christmas week. Visit http://www.diviresorts.com/caribbean-vacation-package-specials.html.
