PICKERING, Ontario, Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Renewable Storage & Storage Renewable Inc. brings to life many of U-Haul Company's green initiatives. Owners Christine and Milton Williamson are proponents of lifelong sustainability and have arranged their storage facility to fit with this view.
U-Haul, which boasts more than 17,000 neighborhood dealerships across Canada and the U.S., pushes for lower emissions by offering more convenient locations and thus less travel.
Renewable Storage is now part of that extensive dealer network with trucks, towing equipment, support rental items, in-store pick-up for boxes and after-hours drop-off. Reserve U-Haul items here by calling (905) 686-8856 or visiting www.renewablestorage.ca.
Renewable Storage is located at 1700 Squires Beach Road and is surrounded by 150 acres of conservation wetland. A multitude of birds and wildlife species make that area their home.
Warmer weather not only brings more birds, but also longer hours to Renewable Storage. Winter hours are 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Summer hours are extended to 8 p.m. on weeknights.
Renewable Storage is an ideal U-Haul partner because of common support for the environment. Milton maintains that he has not been influenced by the popular sustainability movement, but by lifelong environmental consciousness.
"As a child, you know to turn off lights and keep doors closed," he said. "That is basic energy conservation. Really, it is not rocket science to know that if we are creating pollutants it will affect future generations."
Renewable Storage demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by repurposing truck bodies as storage units. All of the truck bodies that Renewable Storage comes in contact with are recycled and reused. Some are insulated if the trucks were used to transport flowers or frozen goods.
"They have gone millions of miles on the road, and now they can get some rest and be stationary," Milton said. "It's not Earth Day. It's Earth Year! You can't say you are a vegetarian for one day, then the next day you eat meat. You need to be environmentally conscious every day, from when you wake up to when you go to sleep."
The Take a Box, Leave a Box program is another of the numerous ways that U-Haul promotes sustainability. To learn more about U-Haul Company's environmentally friendly initiatives, visit http://www.uhaul.com/About/Sustainability.
