GOBankingRates Highlights PrimeWay FCU's $5,000 Support to Education

HOUSTON, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- GOBankingRates' Houston-based client PrimeWay Federal Credit Union donated $5,000 to "Back 2 School," a project co-sponsored by Houston radio station 94.5 FM The Buzz and by Houston Children's Charity Backpack Project, which buys backpacks and school supplies for local students and families in need. GOBankingRates aims to highlight financial institutions like PrimeWay that find inventive ways to support both their members and their surrounding communities.

During an on-air promotion that ran early morning July 31 on the Houston radio program "Rod Ryan Show Cares," PrimeWay pledged $3 for every Facebook "like" it received, with an end goal of $5,000 that it met by early afternoon.

"Education is one of the biggest differentiators for individuals to be financially successful and provide for their families," said Michelle Oshinski, CMO & SVP Government Relations at PrimeWay. "Offering children the tools to earn a solid education and build their future is important to us here at PrimeWay. It was heartwarming to see it also mattered so much to many in our community. That we could support the youth in our community while having fun and making a ton of like-minded new friends that we might not have otherwise met -- well that was just a wonderful bonus."
