GOBankingRates Announces Scholarship Program Winner from Hundreds of Entries

GOBankingRates awards one lucky student a $2,500 scholarship for her upcoming 2018 fall semester

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Personal finance website GOBankingRates.com is doing its part to help one student on his or her journey through college by offering a scholarship. While attending college is an exciting milestone, it can also be a stressful time due to costs such as living expenses and student loans. GOBankingRates is offering this $2,500 scholarship to help ease that financial burden.

The fall 2018 scholarship winner, Rachel Parker - a psychology major and biology minor at Northern Arizona University class of 2021.

GOBankingRates received hundreds of entries from students 18 years of age or older who were either high school seniors or currently enrolled at an accredited college or university as a freshman, sophomore or junior. Applicants were asked to answer the following prompt about their stance on student debt:

"Education expenses are one of the largest sources of debt for Americans. In 500 words or fewer, take a position on tuition costs in the U.S., explaining whether or not they are worth it based on their effect on students, educational institutions and the U.S. economy as a whole."

After thoughtful deliberation over all the entries, GOBankingRates is thrilled to announce the winner: Rachel Parker, a psychology major and biology minor at Northern Arizona University class of 2021.
