CHICAGO, Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Las Vegas Business Press recently presented GO Showtime, a member of The GO Group alliance of airport shuttle companies, with a "Green Award" for its use of alternative fuel and other eco friendly practices.
The company has switched to bio diesel fuel for 36 of its 46 mini buses and converted another five to liquid propane. In addition, GO Showtime uses GPS technology for fuel-efficient routing to further reduce carbon emissions and promotes recycling in both its office and maintenance shop.
GO Showtime was one of nine companies selected for recognition from among more than 50 nominations.
"Adopting green practices isn't good only for the environment," says Lisa deMarigny, company president and CEO. "It is good for employee morale and confirms our commitment to the health and wellness of the Las Vegas tourism market."
Other members of The GO Group, which is the largest airport ground transportation company in the world, have also switched to alternative fuels. GO companies serving San Francisco International, Seattle-Tacoma International, Milwaukee's General Mitchell International, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Chicago's O'Hare International and Midway airports, Puerto Rico's Luis Munoz Marin International and all the southern California airports have converted all or part of their fleets to alternative fuels – either compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane.
The GO Group, LLC is a one-stop source for door-to-door airport shuttle services. Its members transport some 13 million passengers to and from some 68 airports in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe annually. Travelers can book ground through GO's website, www.goairportshuttle.com
