GO Launcher Surpasses 200 Million Users; Announces U.S. Expansion
Introduces New Apps at Google I/O Amid Rapid Launcher Market Growth
BEIJING, May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- GO Launcher, the leading developer of software and services that help mobile users discover, personalize and manage content, today announced that it surpassed the 200 million user milestone on Android. Already the creator of the world's top free mobile launcher, GO Launcher said it also completed an expansion of its international presence with the opening of a new U.S. office in San Francisco.
Launchers, which personalize smartphones and tablets with dynamic themes, widgets, and extra features, are fast becoming an alternative to browsers for accessing mobile content and information. According to market data, people are not only spending more time online via mobile devices instead of PCs, but they now spend the vast majority of their mobile time in apps compared to time on the web.
Currently a top four publisher on the Google Play platform, GO Launcher was one of a select group of developers invited to demo its new applications at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco on May 15-17.
"As our 200 million users confirm, launchers are now a key gateway to the mobile Web, and we expect that 1 billion of the 3 billion Android devices shipped from 2013-2015 will have a third-party launcher installed," said GO Launcher founder and President Zhang Xiangdong. "We're very proud to be one of the few developers invited to demo at the Google I/O conference and show how our GO platform brings together a mobile and online experience for today's generation of users."
GO Launcher recently opened its first office in the United States, located in San Francisco, which will be focused on supporting business development and partnerships, including channel partners and advertisers. Being in the San Francisco Bay area puts the company closer to partners that promote and distribute GO Launcher apps to users. GO Launcher is currently available in 33 languages, and used in more than 150 countries.
"We're helping billions of mobile app users discover and experience content," said GO Launcher CTO Chris Huang. "Our technology platform is the most advanced, flexible and easy-to-use on the market, and offers a personalized, platform-agnostic home screen experience that connects mobile users to what they want, and more importantly, puts the user in control."
GO Launcher's innovation was highlighted by the recent release of Next Launcher 3D in Google Play. Next Launcher is a new generation launcher based on the company's 3D graphics engine technology. Within two weeks of its release, Next Launcher 3D had become the number one paid app in the U.S. in Google Play's personalization category.
