CHICAGO, Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Across the country cities have brewed up a cauldron of Halloween happenings. The travel experts at The GO Group, LLC, the nation's largest ground transportation company, has conjured this list of spook-tacular events for the whole family:
In Chicago, buildings, parks and plazas join in the Chicagoween fun with decorations, events and activities. Visit Franken Plaza (Daley Plaza) for movie nights, dance, theater, music and the Midnight Circus, featuring a high-flying act and juggling. Visit Chicago's Park districts for pumpkin patches, haunted houses and scary theatre!
Indianapolis' premier scary amusement park is Hanna Haunted Acres, a collection of haunted hayrides, houses, mazes and more. Open at dark, the attraction is located less than eight miles from downtown. Tickets are $27 for all six attractions.
New Orleans is reputed to be the most haunted city in America! In addition to haunted hotels and bars, visitors can enjoy The Krewe of Halloween parade on October 29. The three-day Voodoo Music Experience takes place on Halloween weekend in City Park and has three stages and multiple music acts. The Vampire Ball is hosted by the Vampire Lestat Fan club and encourages creative costumes while the Louisiana State Museum Friends of the Cabildo will lead Ghostly Gallivant, a tour through the French Quarter on Oct. 29 and 30.
San Francisco offers a Ghost Walk at City Hall on Oct. 29 and Family Halloween Fest, Oct. 30 at the Randall Museum, with ghoulish games, pumpkin carving, live entertainment and treats. Only the brave will partake in Fear Oaks Haunted Woods where visitors will be assaulted with scary sights, sounds and smells followed by teen zombies re-enacting Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video.
The Toms River Halloween Parade (New Jersey) is reported to be the second largest in the country. Organized by Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, the parade runs Oct. 31, 7 p.m.. More than 6,000 participants and 100,000 spectators are expected to attend.
