Go Green at the Cleantech Open IL

- The competition for green technology is underway

CleanTech Open Global Ideas Competition, is an international competition about green technology, which takes place every November in the Silicon Valley. The competition is held as part of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), a global initiative with nearly 160 participating countries all aimed at developing and promoting new ideas, technology, and entrepreneurial spirit.

About the competition 

The purpose of the CleanTech Open competition is to identify and promote breakthrough solutions in a number of areas, including: energy generation, energy efficiency, water and waste, smart grid technology, energy distribution and storage, green building, and smart transportation.  

This year the competition in Israel had 2 tracks, the first for companies that raised no more than 1 Million USD (Global ideas track), the second for companies that raised between 1 million USD to 5 million USD.

A large number of companies entered the competition to bring forth their ideas and  to secure a spot in the international competition that is being held in California. Registration for CleanTech Open closed in mid-July and since then, a renowned panel of judges have been carefully reviewing the applicants and their proposals.

The judges have reached a consensus on the top six start-ups who will go on to the national final being held on September 9 , 2015 at Tel Aviv University Porter School of Environmental Studies in front of an audience of entrepreneurs, researchers, managers, investors, and government representatives.

Who still stands for the Global Ideas Competition (upto 1 million USD)? 

AseptoRay - develop eco-friendly pasteurization technology, enables: (1) 73% reduction in energy cost compared to standard pasteurization. (2) Improve product quality, nutritional value and taste.

G.A.L Water Technologies - develop patented solution, with the ability to produce drinking water from any contaminated water source, at any time and any place.

Kando - A management system and a monitoring and sampling raw wastewater system that enable municipalities and water companies 24/7 monitoring and control over sewage quality and give them a tool for real time decision making and enforcement execution against polluters in one integrative solution.

SolView - Automatic estimation of rooftop solar energy potential -driving the solar revolution with smart analytics.

From the four finalist companies, one winner will be selected to represent Israel in the global competition being held during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November.

From the three finalist companies, the winner will be entitled as  "The most promised CleanTech Company in Israel" along with other prizes.

Additionally, representatives from a variety of companies throughout Israel have supported CleanTech Open and have been involved throughout the process.
