GM and the GM Foundation's Support for Haiti Earthquake Relief Exceeds $1 Million
DETROIT, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Two fund-raising drives raised more than $35,000 in contributions for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund, bringing the combined current total from Chevrolet, GMC, General Motors, and the GM Foundation to more than $1 million for Haitian earthquake relief efforts.

Montford, Chairman of the GM Foundation & Senior Advisor for Government Relations and Global Public Policy. "I believe our combined efforts will make a significant difference in the lives of the Haitian people."
GM and UAW employees at 11 facilities across North America held gate drives to collect donations for local American Red Cross chapters' Haiti relief efforts. By February 16, a total of $26,881 has been raised, including donations from:
- Willow Run Assembly and UAW Local 735
- Fairfax Assembly and UAW Local 31
- Wentzville Assembly and UAW Local 2250
- Indianapolis Metal Center and UAW Local 23
- GMCH Rochester and UAW Local 1097
- Arlington Assembly and UAW Local 276
- Shreveport Assembly and UAW Local 2166
- Flint Metal Center and UAW Local 659
- Flint Engine South and UAW Local 659
- Flint Assembly and UAW Local 598
- Bowling Green Assembly and UAW Local 2164
- Baltimore Transmission Plant and UAW Local 239
Through Feb. 19, visitors at Chevrolet auto show displays in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Chicago contributed $8,786 to a collection box fitted in the bed of a Chevrolet Colorado.
The GM Foundation has donated almost $800,000 in support, including a $100,000 contribution to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund from the General Motors Foundation GM Global Aid program. The Foundation also donated 30 GMC Sierra pickups at the request of the United Nations as part of a coordinated effort with the William J. Clinton Foundation.
Funds raised for the Haiti Relief and Development Fund also include $250,000 raised during the 39th annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. For the auction, Chevrolet donated a limited edition 2008 Chevrolet Corvette ZO6. The car, which was the last of 427 limited-edition cars built specifically for North America, sold at auction for $200,000. In addition, five individuals at the auction contributed $10,000 each to support the relief efforts in Haiti.
