Global X GURU Index ETF Awarded 5-Stars from Morningstar
NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Global X Funds (Global X), the New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), today announced that the Global X GURU Index ETF (NYSE Arca: GURU) has been awarded a 5 star Morningstar rating based on the fund's risk adjusted performance and fee levels over its 3 year history. Only 10% of the 45 Funds in the Large Blend category, as of July 31st, are awarded the five star rating.
GURU invests in the largest equity positions of established hedge funds. It can serve as a core domestic equity allocation, providing investors access to investment ideas gathered from some of the industry's top hedge funds.
The index methodology is systematically applied each quarter to information publicly available in 13F filings. The index employs a number of filters to identify the hedge fund gurus and creates an equal-weighted index with the largest, and therefore highest conviction positions disclosed by these hedge funds.
"We're pleased that Morningstar has recognized GURU with a 5-star Morningstar rating," said Global X CEO Bruno del Ama. "This ranking is yet another example of GURU's value proposition, and demonstrates that when done properly, and in accordance with academic studies, 13F tracking can be a valuable source of alpha for investors."
From the fund's inception on June 4, 2012 through August 31, 2015, GURU had a total return of 77.55%, outperforming the S&P 500 by 12.26%.

Disclosure
Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. The 13F filings used to select the securities in the Underlying Index are filed by each hedge fund approximately 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter. Therefore a given hedge fund may have already sold its position by the time of the 13F filing. High short-term performance of the fund is unusual and investors should not expect such performance to be repeated. The fund's manager has the ability to employ up to 20% leverage, which may accelerate the velocity of potential gains or losses. The fund invests in small and mid-capitalization companies, which have greater volatility and less financial resources than large-capitalization companies. Furthermore, the fund may hold foreign securities which are subject to different risks than domestic securities, including foreign currency fluctuation, different financial and accounting standards, and political instability. The fund is required to distribute income and capital gains which may be taxable. Buying and selling shares will result in brokerage commissions and tax consequences. For each fund with at least a three year history, Morningstar calculates a Morningstar Rating based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a fund's monthly performance (including the effects of sales charges, loads, and redemption fees), placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of funds in each category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receives 2 stars and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a fund is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five- and ten-year (if applicable) Morningstar Ratings metrics.
As of July 31, 2015, The Global X GURUTM Index ETF was rated against the following numbers of U.S.-domiciled Large Blend funds over the following time period: 45 funds in the last three years in which it received a 5 star rating. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
