MIAMI, July 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Global Sources' (NASDAQ: GSOL) first China Sourcing Fairs in North America runs from today through July 13, 2011 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Jointly organized with China's Trade Development Bureau, the country's trade promotion arm under the Ministry of Commerce, the shows are Electronics, Gifts & Premiums, Home Products, Fashion Accessories, Garments & Textiles and Baby & Children's Products.
"We are excited to bring the China Sourcing Fairs to buyers in North and Latin America for the first time," said Tommy Wong, President of Global Sources Exhibitions. "We have organized these events for years in different parts of the world, including Hong Kong, India, South Africa and Dubai. But this is the first time that some of mainland China's more experienced exporters are coming to meet with buyers in this region."
The Fairs are exclusively for importers, traders, and other volume buyers who purchase consumer products for resale to markets throughout the North and Latin American regions.
Co-located with the China Sourcing Fairs is the India Sourcing Fair, which features a selection of India-based exporters of home products and gift items.
Mr. Wong hosted the Fairs' opening ceremony. Also joining the opening were:
- Ms. Li Ying, Director, Trade Development Bureau, Ministry of Commerce, People's Republic of China
- Mr. Li Fuming, Director, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Tianjin Municipal People's Government
- Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, Vice Secretary-General, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts
- Mr. Ajay Sahai, Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO)
To enable buyers who are unable to attend the Fairs to source from exhibitors, Global Sources is also expanding its Online Sourcing Fairs service as part of the Miami events. The new service uses online technology to bring together the company's traditional trade shows with online marketplaces, print and digital magazines. Each online show is built on the foundation of Global Sources' face-to-face shows, and includes product profiles of each exhibitor's featured products, multiple images of the booths, company videos, products and conference sessions.
"With the addition of our Online Sourcing Fairs, buyers can continue to evaluate our exhibitors and do business with them even after the physical event here in Miami has concluded. It is a win-win for both groups," said Wong.
