Global Rainmakers Appoints James M. Demitrieus as Chief Operating Officer
Iris Biometric Leader Strengthens Management Team at the Onset of Expansion
NEW YORK, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Rainmakers, Inc. (GRI), a Puerto Rico based intellectual property holding company and advanced R&D laboratory, today announced the appointment of James Demitrieus as Chief Operating Officer. Demitrieus will be responsible for overseeing firm operations as it diversifies its product offering and expands global deployment.
Demitrieus, 62, comes to GRI with over 30 years of experience implementing a strategic vision, building new businesses, and turning around underperforming operations. He has a proven track record of value creation, including leading successful IPOs and restructuring and refinancing multi billion dollar enterprises including IXnet, IPC Communications, Aluma Systems, and the GasServ division of Harsco Corporation (HSC).
Before joining GRI, Demitrieus served as the President of Sherwood Valves, a division of Harsco Corporation, a $4 billion industrial services conglomerate, where he was hired to turn around the company. He successfully completed this project and led the sale of Harsco's GasServ division to Chicago based private equity buyers in a very challenging financial environment.
Previously, Demitrieus also served as the President and CEO of Alumna Systems, Canada's largest industrial provider of access-industrial scaffolding and concrete forming and shoring services, where he spearheaded their restructuring and turnaround efforts. In this position, he added substantial top line revenue, doubled operating profit in 24 months, and reestablished Aluma's international presence with a focus on Dubai, the Middle East, and Asia. In 2005, he led the sale of Aluma to a major New York private equity firm.
"GRI is at an inflection point and the addition of Jim to our management team will help this company grow into the international powerhouse we will become. His experience helping grow companies will be invaluable to Global Rainmakers as we further commercialize our current suite of biometric products and roll out additional products in the coming months," said Hector Hoyos, Chairman and CEO of GRI.
"Biometric identification is not the wave of the future, it is the wave of the present, and no company is in a better position than GRI in terms of intellectual property, a developed set of marketable products, and a management team with the world's deepest experience in this market," said Demitrieus. "I am excited to work with their top-notch, visionary team and contribute to expanding the presence of the Company in ways we believe will impact every day life."
Jeff Carter will take a new role as the Chief Development Officer of GRI. His responsibilities will include new business development and the deployment of the Company's revolutionary strategy on iris biometric security applications within mobile services and devices as well as their entrance into the consumer sector.
"We believe the applications for GRI's biometrics technology are endless, especially as we enter into the consumer sector. I look forward to working closely with Jim to combine our visions and expand into new markets," commented Carter.
GRI has carefully developed its intellectual property portfolio to support a wide range of biometric products that can meet the demands of businesses in both public and private sectors. Biometrics products are designed to uniquely recognize humans based on one or more intrinsic physical or behavioral traits, which could include finger print, voice, DNA, and iris recognition. Biometric solutions are often leveraged in identity access management and control systems. The next chapter will see a paradigm shift where biometric services will underpin all facets of life, which will forever change the landscape for payments, marketing, personalization, and search, creating an opportunity to transform the valuable consumer profile. The iris platform provides the foundation to service billions of unique users across a global scale. Global Rainmakers has worked with the Pentagon, the U.S. Air Force, and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as banking and financial services companies, such as Bank of America.
