Global PON OLT Revenue Exceeded $3 Billion in 2019, According to Dell'Oro Group

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a newly published report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, the total global revenue for PON OLT equipment reached $3 Billion, up 16 percent from 2018. This was the lone bright spot in 2019, when significant revenue declines in both DSL and cable infrastructure cast a long shadow.

"Although 2019 was a challenging year for broadband access equipment vendors, with revenue dipping to levels not seen since 2012, there are positive signs that operators are committed to 10G upgrades to support premium broadband services," said Jeff Heynen, Senior Research Director, Broadband Access and Home Networking. "There will be pockets of growth in 2020, but increased competition is needed to spur additional spending," explained Heynen.

Total cable access concentrator revenue decreased 30 percent Y/Y to $255 M, driven once again by a slowdown in CCAP license purchases across all regions.
Total DOCSIS 3.1 CPE units increased to 6 M, representing 67 percent of total Cable CPE shipments.
Total XGS-PON OLT port shipments increased 222 percent Y/Y, as more operators continue their shift to 10 Gbps FTTH networks.
