CHICAGO, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective today, the former IHS Operational Excellence and Risk Management (OERM) business is now Sphera Solutions. This new corporate name and organizational rebrand is a result of Sphera's transition to an independent entity operating within the portfolio of Genstar Capital, a leading middle-market private equity firm, which acquired the OERM business from IHS [now IHS Markit (NASDAQ: INFO)] in June of this year.
Sphera is the leading global provider of software solutions and information services for operational risk, environmental performance and product stewardship. Through software innovation, proprietary information and expert-driven insights, Sphera helps organizations keep their people safe, their products sustainable and their operations productive.
Today, Sphera's 500 employees serve more than 2,500 customers—and more than one million individual users—across 70 countries. This includes the majority of the world's largest and most complex organizations in the oil and gas, chemical, life sciences, energy and utility, consumer packaged goods, natural resources, and manufacturing industries. More than 100 U.S. government and defense agencies also use Sphera's solutions and services.
"Reintroducing ourselves to the marketplace, in both new form and name, signals the first of many steps we are taking to help our customers, and the industry overall, advance and accelerate the journey towards operational excellence," said Sphera President and CEO Paul Marushka. "With our enhanced investment in research and development, we are bringing innovations to the market through an integrated software platform with a robust user experience coupled with deep analytics available across a variety of technologies, including cloud, mobile and Internet of Things."
For the past 30 years, Sphera has amassed the largest and most comprehensive collection of environmental, health and safety data, as well as attracted and retained the industry's leading technical experts and thought leaders. Drawing upon this combination, Sphera is able to assess, model and map the unique needs of customers across the size, maturity and complexity spectrums to produce best-in-class solutions that help keep people safe, products sustainable and operations productive.
"Companies today are being held to higher standards of responsibility and transparency by the government and consumers alike," added Marushka. "Sphera is superbly positioned to deliver the fully integrated technology and insights to address all current, evolving and future needs."
