Global Earth Day Gratitude Celebration April 22, 2016
Give Thanks to Mother Earth with Our Actions
SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In a call to action for Earth Day, a new group that includes Deepak Chopra, The Earth Day Network, Life is Good, Ron Finley, Rainbow Light, the Downtown Project, Lynne Twist, Rickie Byars Beckwith, Master Sha, Green Our Planet, Living Homes and more, have come together to promote the global Earth Day Gratitude celebration. People from all over the world are encouraged to celebrate Mother Earth on Earth Day in the best way possible – by attempting to get as close to personal net zero as they can from 7:30-8:30pm local time.
"When everyone pulls together and does their part, the world will be a better place. Not just now, but for generations to come," said Kathleen Rogers of The Earth Day Network.
What is the Global Earth Day Gratitude Celebration?
The Earth Day Gratitude celebration is all about powering up on gratitude and powering down electricity and fossil fuels for one hour, between 7:30-8:30pm in your time zone.
"Celebrate under the full moon. Dance under the stars. Dine by candlelight or LED candles. Count your blessings. Observe the fresh insights that flood your own awareness and the world consciousness, as we spend at least one hour on Earth Day giving thanks to Mother Nature with our words and actions," said Natalie Pace, organizer of the Earth Day Gratitude celebration.
Mothers have a holiday. Fathers have a holiday. Couples have a holiday. Earth Day, April 22, has been a holiday since 1970, however many sustainable global citizens aren't even sure of the exact date. Now, at last, Earth Day has its own tradition – the global Earth Day Gratitude celebration. Part of protecting our environment is about getting smart about what it means to live sustainably and how to reduce our footprint on an individual basis. Earth Day is a celebration of that goal and a reminder to protect the thing we rely on most for our livelihood – the Earth.
As Deepak Chopra reminds us, "We call her 'the environment,' but Mother Earth is our extended body that nourishes our existence in every moment of our life. Let us work to keep her sustainable, so we may in turn be nourished and sustained. Start by devoting at least one hour on April 22, 2016 to giving thanks for Mother Nature, and getting as close as possible to personal net zero."
