Global Crossing Appoints John Sutton as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Federal Sector
Company creates new customer-facing unit to heighten focus on Government Markets
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., June 1, /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC), a leading global IP solutions provider, today announced the creation of a new senior role, naming industry veteran John Sutton to lead the company's Federal Sector business as a member of Global Crossing's senior leadership team.
Sutton, who had been Senior Vice President of the Defense and Intelligence Business Unit in the Mission, Cyber and Technology Group at ManTech, Inc., begins his new role immediately. The new Federal Sector unit he will lead becomes the company's fifth customer-facing unit, joining teams focused on customers in North America, Latin America, EMEA/UK and the global Carrier segment.

Sutton comes to Global Crossing as a versatile business executive with more than 24 years of federal business experience. He has a track record of operating, diversifying and growing technology-driven businesses. At Global Crossing, he will serve as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Federal Sector, and will report directly to Legere.

Prior to his position at ManTech, Inc., Sutton was a Group Vice President at AT&T Government Solutions, where he was responsible for business operations and growth in Department of Defense and Intelligence markets. In this position he managed more than 600 employees, most with top-secret security clearances; delivered technology solutions in data management, training, systems engineering and modeling; and simulation of national and tactical systems, network systems design and operations at multiple levels of security.
Sutton earned a Masters in Business Administration from George Mason University School of Management and a Bachelors of Science in Marine Transportation at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He is a member of the National Intelligence Education Foundation Board and has served on the George Mason University School of Management Advisory Board and the Blue Canopy Advisory Board. He has received a Department of the Army Superior Performance Award and Department of the Navy AEGIS Excellence Award.
