WASHINGTON, April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association of Global Automakers (Global Automakers) is pleased to support the official launch of the Senate Auto Caucus. The Caucus held a kick-off reception Wednesday evening on Capitol Hill featuring co-chairs Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).
"We are proud of bipartisan efforts like the Senate Auto Caucus that provide a strong, unified voice for the auto industry, which employs hundreds of thousands of Americans," said John Bozzella, president and CEO of Global Automakers. "The knowledge and leadership of Senators Portman and Brown, who represent a state where automakers employ more than one out of every 10 people, will be of great benefit to the Caucus."
The Senate and House Auto Caucuses provide a bipartisan forum for Members of Congress to exchange ideas and influence policy on issues that affect the auto industry as a whole, and in turn, the U.S. economy. They help promote a legislative agenda that encourages the innovative work of the industry in developing new technologies to provider safer, more advanced vehicles and increased consumer choice. Global Automakers supported the launch of the House Auto Caucus with a reception in March.
"The Senate Auto Caucus plays an important role in representing an incredibly diverse industry with a significant impact on the U.S. economy," said Bozzella. "We are excited to continue our work together, and look forward to supporting the efforts of the Caucus on behalf of automakers, suppliers, and dealers around the country."
