Since the drive began Sept. 1, Men's Wearhouse has collected nearly half of its 100,000-item goal, which will be distributed by more than 200 regional nonprofits that work with the unemployed. For every donation, Men's Wearhouse will donate one dress shirt to the cause. The third annual drive, the biggest of its kind in the country, will run through Sept. 30.
"Give unemployed workers in your area a second chance simply by cleaning out your closet," said Steven Cook, Vice President of Community Relations, Men's Wearhouse. "Clothing collected through the National Suit Drive benefits the community from which it was received, so we all have the power to help local residents."
To participate in the national event, donate men's and women's suits, shirts, jackets, ties, belts, and shoes at the more than 1,000 Men's Wearhouse locations throughout the country. For a complete list of store locations and charities involved, visit www.nationalsuitdrive.com.
"In lieu of parting with a financial contribution during these tough times, simply donating professional attire can have a hugely positive impact on unemployed workers who cannot afford to put dinner on the table, let alone buy a new suit," said Jessica Rooks, Director of Workforce Development at The Osborne Association. "Donating to the National Suit Drive is a fantastic way to help those striving to transform their lives, giving them the self-confidence they need to successfully re-enter the workforce."
To thank donors for their generosity, Men's Wearhouse is offering 25-percent-off discounts in addition to tax receipts.*
