NEW YORK, July 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Girls Who Code, the national non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology, today announced the appointment of Phil Shawe to the organization's Board of Directors. Shawe is the CEO and President of TransPerfect, which provides translation, localization, and an array of related business and technology solutions.

Shawe has overseen the day-to-day operations of TransPerfect for over 25 years, and grown the business from two people to an industry leader with over 4,000 employees and more than 90 offices worldwide. Phil has been recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year for New York City by Ernst & Young, and named to the prestigious Crain's New York "40 Under 40" list as one of the city's top young executives. Crain's has also ranked TransPerfect as one of the largest privately held companies nine years in a row. His philanthropic efforts include supporting over 25 causes by donating time or financial support, and he was recently named to The V Foundation for Cancer Research's Circle of Honor.
