Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Expands its Efforts within the Growing Hispanic Community!
Building bright futures for young Latinas
MABLETON, Ga., March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta is expanding its efforts to bring high-quality leadership development programs to the attention of the growing metro Atlanta Hispanic community. Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta currently serves over 44,500 girls throughout the greater metropolitan area. The goal of the Hispanic outreach effort is to inform and educate young Latinas and their parents about the many fun, educational and leadership programs available through the Girl Scouts.
"Hispanic families in Georgia are growing by leaps and bounds, up nearly 100% from the 2000 to the 2010 Census. There are now nearly 1,000,000 Latinos in Georgia," noted Leslie Gill, COO of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. "While we have always been inclusive and work with all communities we want to bring awareness to the positive life-impacting experiences girls receive through our program and we want the growing Hispanic community to join us to bring Girl Scouting to more girls in the Hispanic community."
The initial portion of the outreach campaign will run through June 2013 and will include: Spanish-language media tours, community event's presence and fundraising events.
Girl Scouts Hispanic outreach efforts is not only reaching out to Latina girls and their families, but also to adults who are encouraged to inspire and mentor girls as well as give back to the community by becoming Girl Scouts volunteers. Volunteering for the Girls Scouts brings terrific opportunities and benefits to girls, families and the community as a whole.

To further the investment in this initiative, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta will be working with the Lanza Group, LLC - an Atlanta-based Hispanic marketing, PR & events firm that provides multicultural marketing solutions to help increase awareness of Girl Scouts wonderful programs among girls and parents in the Latino community. Through this campaign, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta will encourage and support Latina girls in accomplishing their dreams and become part of the nation's future leaders.
