Giorgio Armani Supports the U.S. Fund for UNICEF through its Acqua for Life Program
NEW YORK, March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As a leader in the fragrance industry, Giorgio Armani is proud to announce, for the third year, its partnership with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. The company will serve as the national sponsor of the 2012 UNICEF Tap Project, a nationwide initiative to help provide the world's children with access to safe, clean water, through its Acqua for Life campaign. Acqua for Life was developed in an effort to raise awareness around the world to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities in schools and communities. Millions of people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water, and nearly 4,000 children die every day from water-related illnesses.
The award-winning UNICEF Tap Project, supported by Giorgio Armani since 2010, offers participants across the United States the opportunity to help provide the world's children with safe, clean water. With just one dollar, UNICEF can provide clean drinking water to a child for 40 days. Through numerous fundraising and volunteer activities, the UNICEF Tap Project engages celebrity, restaurant, volunteer and corporate supporters to help provide this vital resource to children in developing countries. The concept is basic and compelling: "When You Take Water, Give Water."
From March 1-31, 2012, Giorgio Armani will build awareness for the UNICEF TAP Project by donating one dollar to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support the UNICEF Tap Project for each purchase of the Acqua di Gio for Men and Acqua di Gioia for Women cologne or gift set through authorized distributors in the U.S. In addition, Giorgio Armani will donate one dollar for every person who "likes" the "Acqua for Life" page on Facebook, up to $100,000 during the month of March.
In an effort to connect with the younger generation and create buzz, Giorgio Armani has created a social media campaign that consists of a website dedicated to Acqua for Life (www.acquaforlife.org), an Acqua for Life Facebook page and a mobile website. In addition, to achieve further engagement through a mobile-ready platform, Giorgio Armani has implemented a special QR code on the back of every Acqua di Gio for Men and Acqua di Gioia for Women gift sets sold in stores, allowing customers the opportunity to scan from their mobile device and activate the donation from Giorgio Armani.
Since the launch of the Acqua for Life program, Giorgio Armani has contributed $750,000 to support UNICEF's water, sanitation and hygiene programs for children worldwide.
The Limited Edition Acqua di Gio for Men and Acqua di Gioia for Women Acqua for Life promotional sets will be available during the month of March online at www.giorgioarmanibeauty.com and at select fine department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Macy's.
