SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Gigamon® Inc. (NYSE: GIMO), the leader in traffic visibility solutions with its innovative Unified Visibility Fabric™, today announced the addition of its GigaVUE™ family of products to the Department of Defense Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (DoD UC APL).
DoD Components are required to fulfill their system needs by purchasing only APL listed products, which now allows all DoD Components to purchase and operate Gigamon on all DoD network infrastructures. DoD established the UC APL to maintain a single consolidated record of products that have completed Interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) certification.
"We are very pleased to be included on the DoD UC APL to continue to enable government agencies to deploy the most secure and manageable infrastructure possible," said Dennis Reilly, vice president of federal sales at Gigamon. "Gigamon's continued dedication to excellence in the Federal sector is demonstrated by our willingness to proactively put our products through rigorous evaluation to achieve validation by the Department of Defense."
"Being listed on the Department of Defense's UC APL is a significant achievement and clear evidence of Gigamon's commitment to the Federal market. Gigamon is widely installed in the DoD and Intelligence Community, and is helping its customers strengthen cybersecurity and improve network performance in an affordable way," said Al Di Leonardo, president of The HumanGeo and LTC US Army Special Operations (Ret.).
Gigamon's flagship H Series line of solutions consists of high-density, chassis-based Visibility Fabric nodes that utilize Gigamon's patented Flow Mapping® technology to intelligently filter, replicate and optimize the flow of traffic from production networks to management, analysis, monitoring and security tools. The H Series delivers up to 2.5 Tb of connectivity in an architecture that supports 1Gb, 10Gb, 40Gb and 100Gb of connectivity that allows enterprises and data centers of all sizes to deploy a powerful Gigamon Visibility Fabric. This results in lower operational costs, higher infrastructure flexibility, increased security and improved organizational agility. In particular, the GigaVUE-HC2 is a modular, 2U, multi-purpose visibility fabric node with unique capabilities, such as integrated TAP's for in-line bypass deployment as well as out-of-band support.
"Gigamon has been very committed to federal standards such as Common Criteria and FIPS 140-2 since they pioneered this market back in 2004, so it comes as no surprise that they would be the first visibility fabric provider to be included on the UC APL," said Ryan Morris, senior director of operations at BAI. "Their willingness to develop features and entire products based on the demanding needs of this customer base have resulted in a reliable platform that is several years ahead of the rest of the market."
The UC APL certification builds upon Gigamon's Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2 accreditation, which the company achieved in May 2014. The FIPS 140-2 and DoD UC APL certifications combined allow Gigamon to continue to provide government agencies with secure, best-of-breed products and services for network visibility.
