GiftCards.com Reports January Sales Numbers of Discounted Gift Cards

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Today GiftCards.com, the leading internet site for Visa gift cards, and discounted gift cards, announced that discounted gift card sales for the four weeks of January 2010 increased 75% over the same period last year.

"The increase in sales is really two fold. We had an increase in our card redemptions which increased our card inventory and we also had a big demand for the discounted gift cards," stated Jason Wolfe, CEO of GiftCards.com.

GiftCards.com acquires unwanted gift cards from customers that would rather have the cash than the gift cards.  "We have seen a significant increase in gift card redemptions this year.  I think that many people are just trying to pay down their holiday debt," stated Wolfe.  "We continue to create innovative ways to acquire unwanted gift cards," stated Wolfe.  The company recently launched the Bill Pay feature.  The Bill Pay feature allows customers to cash in gift cards and have a percentage of the card balance applied to a bill.  The service is extremely flexible and allows the payment of any bill - from utility bills to cell phone bills to car payments.
