Gibbs & Cox Appoints Matthew Hans Vice-President of the Platform Solutions Group
ARLINGTON, Va., April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gibbs & Cox, Inc., a global leader in naval architecture and marine engineering, today announced the appointment of Mr. Matthew P. Hans as Vice President of the Platform Solutions Group. In this role, Mr. Hans will be responsible for profit and loss, financial management, and cost and schedule control for all Platform Solutions programs. Mr. Hans will maintain oversight of program deliverable quality in coordination with G&C technical Group Managers, as well as ensuring the professional development of program managers within the Group.
The Platform Solutions Group provides ship design and naval architecture expertise to military and commercial maritime clients. Most recently, the Platform Solutions Group has served as the design agent for the Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) in support of Lockheed Martin and Fincantieri's Marinette Marine Shipyard. The Platform Solutions Group is also designing the future U.S. Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Cutter as part of the Bollinger Team.

Mr. Hans joined Gibbs & Cox in 2008. He began his maritime industry career as a commercial engineering officer, where he sailed on board oil tankers and container ships. After coming ashore in 2004, Mr. Hans continued to develop his expertise in maritime operations by:
- Serving as the U.S. Navy program manager at a marine gas turbine original equipment manufacturer,
- Serving as the director of operations at a maritime technology firm,
- Leading the LCS program as a senior program manager at G&C where he managed all LCS activities, and,
- Leading the Platform Solutions Group as the Assistant Vice President and Deputy Group Manager.
Mr. Hans holds a master's degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University as well as a bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering and Shipyard Management from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Mr. Hans served in the Naval Reserve from 2001-2013. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia, a certified Project Management Professional, and a USCG licensed chief engineer.
