SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Giants Community Fund announced today that their partnership with the HERO Program as presenting sponsor for the 50/50 Raffle at AT&T Park has helped the Fund to raise nearly $300,000 to date. The raffle recently passed its half-way point, as this new fundraiser was launched in May. The HERO Program, which helps people make their homes more energy and water efficient, is proud to partner with the Giants Community Fund to support education initiatives, raise health awareness, reduce violence and bullying, and provide opportunities for youth character development. The Fund's activities and mission are in alignment with HERO's work to empower individuals and families, and improve the quality of life in communities where they operate.
At every home Giants game this season (with the exception of May 23 and September 18), fans have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets from the time the gates open until the last out of the sixth inning. The winning ticket is announced by the eighth inning. Winners collect 50% of each raffle's proceeds; the other half goes to support charitable programs through the Giants Community Fund, including the Junior Giants program which reaches nearly 25,000 boys and girls in 87 underserved communities.
"Our partnership with the HERO Program is enabling us to improve our community in real and tangible ways," said Sue Petersen, Executive Director of the Giants Community Fund. "Leading Bay Area programs like HERO make our work possible, and assist us in helping local families in need. We are grateful for their involvement."
The HERO Program's Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing enables homeowners to improve the energy and water efficiency of their homes and pay for the improvements over time through their property tax bills. Solar power panel installations; energy-efficient roofing, insulation, windows and doors; high-efficiency heating and cooling systems; water-conserving plumbing and toilets; even drought-tolerant landscaping, drip irrigation, and artificial turf, are all eligible.
One home at a time, HERO is creating a track record of success in helping partner communities meet their CO2 emission reduction targets and reduce their water use, while creating local jobs and stimulating the local economy. Eighty three communities in the Bay Area have already partnered with this innovative financing program. More than 2,300 homes have completed projects to date, with $56.3 million in HERO financing. This increased home improvement activity has caused an increase of economic activity of $97.5 million in Bay Area counties, including the creation of more than 470 local jobs.
"As the state's largest provider of residential PACE energy efficiency financing, we're pleased to be partnering with the three-time World Champion San Francisco Giants and their Community Fund," said Leah Rowell, Community Development Manager for Renovate America, the company that administers the HERO Program. "It's important for us to give back to the communities that have embraced us. We're proud to be a part of this Bay Area institution that works with underserved kids and communities in such a positive, solutions-oriented way."
The Community Fund is also excited to announce the addition of two new 50/50 Raffle kiosks to be added to the View Reserve and Bleacher areas of AT&T Park as well as a new LED board adjacent to the main scoreboard. Fans will be able to see the running jackpot on the LED board throughout the game, with the winning number posted in the eighth inning.
