Giant Food Alerts Customers to Voluntary Recall of Dale & Thomas Indiana White Cheddar Popcorn
LANDOVER, Md., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Giant Food of Landover, Md., following a recall by Dale & Thomas, announced it removed from sale ready-to-eat bags of natural salty snacks Indiana white cheddar popcorn due to possible contamination by listeria monocytogenes.
The following product, with all sell by dates, is included in this recall:
- Dale & Thomas natural salty snacks Indiana white cheddar popcorn, UPC 84357100078, 9 oz.
No illnesses have been reported to date. Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Giant Food for a full refund.
Listeria is a common organism found in nature. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
