Giant Alerts Customers to Voluntary Recall by ConAgra Foods of Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken and Rice Frozen Entrees
LANDOVER, Md., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a recall by ConAgra Foods, Giant Food LLC announced it had removed from sale all Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken and Rice single-serve frozen entrees due to the potential of salmonella contamination.
The following products were recalled from sale:
- Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken and Rice Frozen Entree 13oz, UPC 2113150469
- Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken Breast and Rice Frozen Entrees 14oz, UPC 2113150608
Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial food borne illnesses. Salmonella infections can be life-threatening, especially to those with weak immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy. The most common manifestations of salmonellosis are diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within eight to 72 hours. Additional symptoms may be chills, headache, nausea and vomiting that can last up to seven days.
Customers who have purchased the affected products should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Giant Food for a full refund.
