GetWireless announces the new NimbeLink Skywire™ LTE Cat 4 Modem now Certified for Verizon Wireless
GetWireless expands their product offerings with addition of NimbeLink's Cat 4 LTE modems which are ideal for higher-speed IoT applications such as multimedia, video surveillance, and digital signage.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- GetWireless, a leading value-added distributor of cellular solutions and NimbeLink, a leading developer of embedded cellular modems, have developed, tested, and received end-device certification from Verizon Wireless for the Skywire Cat 4 LTE cellular modem.
With a 50 percent higher download speed than Cat 3 LTE modems, the new Cat 4 modem can support both Internet of Things (IoT) and non-IoT streaming applications. The Cat 4 modem has now received full FCC certification, and ODI carrier certification for use on the Verizon Wireless cellular network.
Like other embedded cellular modems in the Skywire family offered by GetWireless, the ultra-compact Cat 4 modem is the smallest available and uses an industry-standard footprint for easy integration. Based on the proven Sierra Wireless HL7588 module, Skywire supports download speeds of up to 150 mb/s and upload speeds of 50 mb/s, with very low latency, and its power requirement is similar to that of the lower-speed Cat 3 modem.
NimbeLink modems are designed and built specifically to minimize the amount of engineering needed to incorporate cellular connectivity. In addition to eliminating the costly and time-consuming testing needed for end-device certification, Skywire Cat 4 modems are fully compatible with NimbeLink development kits and microprocessor shields to help speed users' cellular-enabled products to market.
"This new addition to the NimbeLink family is exactly what the market is looking for; combining the advanced technology from Sierra Wireless; and the speed to market of the NimbeLink Skywire product. This brings a powerful solution for many IoT applications, and GetWireless is excited to be the strategic partner offering it to the marketplace," said Bryan Rasmussen, COO of GetWireless.
