LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This holiday season, Heifer International wants to making gift-giving easy, festive and fun, but always with a focus on helping families improve their lives with livestock and training. A Heifer gift is no ordinary gift.

This year our animals are getting into holiday spirit by wearing their favorite holiday sweaters.

Take giving a goat as an example. These versatile creatures can supply up to a ton of milk a year, used to make milk, cheese, butter and improved income with the sale of milk products. Not to mention, they can have up to two or three kids per year, provide manure for fertilizer and are small enough to keep on even the smallest farms.

Goat farming changed the lives of Karegeya and Esperances Francois from Rwanda. In 2011 this family received a purebred Saanen dairy goat. Since then, their first goat has produced five kids, and those produced 12 more. Now the family owns 10 goats, three of which are milk-producing, and two cows. Additionally, they received training to increase production on their one acre of land. They now grow corn, soybeans, cabbage, beets, onions and matooke (a type of banana).
