CARNEGIE, Pa., March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Support The Salvation Army and get some bargains for yourself at The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Fabric Fair. This annual event, now in its 27th year, will be held at the South Park Home Economics Building, located at 1801 Brownsville Road in South Park, on Saturday, April 11th from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Patterns, beautiful upholstery, elegant fabric, yarns and notions at discount prices draw hundreds of crafters from all over the tri-state area. The Greater Pittsburgh Women's Auxiliary works tirelessly throughout the year on this event that has become not only very popular with bargain hunters, but a major fundraiser benefiting local families who are hurting.
"The Women's Auxiliary is proud to be a major contributor to The Salvation Army in Allegheny County, assisting in serving the less fortunate through the proceeds of the Fabric Fair," said Major Jody Kramer, The Salvation Army's Divisional Women's Auxiliary Secretary. "Each year, the event continues to be more successful than the last, and we are hopeful that this year's event will be no exception to that trend." The event has grown from raising only a few thousand dollars in the first few years to generating more than $40,000 in 2014 for The Salvation Army's critical social support services.
As the event is donation based, donated fabric and related items, as well as volunteers, are always in need. For more information on the Fabric Fair, please contact Leah Horcholic at 412-446-1534. The Annual Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival held from March 27th through the 29th at Pittsburgh's Westin Convention Center Hotel, is once again serving as a donation drop off site for Fabric Fair.
