German Bankers: Ukraine's Economy is Headed in the Right Direction
KYIV, Ukraine, November 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
As a result of the presentation of Ukraine's investment potential to the German financiers, many of the attending businessmen expressed their interest in cooperation with the country. Consequently, the representatives of Commerzbank AG, Rödl & Partner consulting company, Dusseldorf Chambers of Commerce, M&M Militzer & Münch Holding expressed their interest in investment opportunities in Ukraine.
The presentation of the investment potential in Ukraine "Ukraine: The Best Investment Opportunities", recently held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, was a long-awaited event for the German businessmen, said the Head of Financial Institutions of Commerzbank AG, Germany, Per Fischer. The German banker, responsible for sales in the CEE, Russia, CIS & Baltics regions, mentioned that the presentation in Frankfurt provided him with valuable information he could forward to his clients. Rödl & Partner's Klaus Kessler, in his turn, noted the importance of the availability of operational data on the investment climate in Ukraine.
Robert Butschen of the Dusseldorf Chambers of Commerce, who also attended the investment conference, expressed regret about the lack of specific information on Ukraine: "Unfortunately, the German press does not cover Ukrainian macroeconomic situation or developments on tax reform but the Tymoshenko trial." The businessman also reckoned that the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU would improve business contacts between the two parties. This would intensify the flow of EU investments to Ukraine, said Robert Butschen.
Claus Mohn of M&M Militzer & Münch expressed general concern of German investors on the issue of bureaucracy, corruption, and tax burden in Ukraine. Nevertheless, he added that Europe had not recovered completely from the global financial crisis when the Eurozone crisis hit.
Ukraine: The Best Investment Opportunities is a series of investment conferences that currently take place in 16 world financial centers. The initiator of the roadshow is the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine. So far the events took place in Germany, the United States of America, and Spain.
