GeoSpace Labs Releases ELD Version 5.0 which includes Safety Diagnostics, Emission Reporting, and FMCSA Emergency Declaration 2020-002 Support
Geowiz ELD versions 5.0 and higher capture J1939 engine diagnostics including over 60 real-time data points and 3800+ suspect warning items; provide detailed EMISSIONs data for green tracking and compliance; and includes modes for motor carriers in direct support of relief efforts related to COVID-19.
LAKELAND, Fla., March 17, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- In logistics, electronic logging devices (ELD) are legally required for most motor carriers. These devices track and report the activity of the power unit to law enforcement to ensure compliance with federally mandated safety regulations for drivers and fleets.
Version 5.0 of the suite of GeoSpace Labs ELD's move the device to the forefront of ELD technology, surpassing other units in it class. In addition to extended handling of required federal regulations, the ELD device now gathers and reports in real-time all data provided by the trucks engine control unit (ECU).
This includes a complete history of Driver, Fuel, Engine, Emissions, Transmission, and Diagnostic engine reporting.
Version 5.0 also incorporates the evolution on usability and reliability from five years of field usage, and benefits from an extensive driver feedback project conducted in Q4 of 2019 where hundreds of drivers provided direct feedback with new feature requests, tweaks, rule interpretations, and usability.
Additionally, on March 13, 2020 the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration issued emergency declaration number 2020-002, which "... addresses National emergency conditions that create a need for immediate transportation of essential supplies, equipment and persons, and provides necessary relief from FMCSRs for motor carriers and drivers engaged in the transport of essential supplies, equipment and persons."
"We were at the end of our QA process on 5.0 when the FMCSA announced the emergency declaration and were lucky enough to be able to include it in this planned release. This emergency feature adds the ability to enter an exempt mode when hauling under the COVID-19 2020-002 emergency conditions, which will allow motor carriers to benefit from the installed technology while quickly moving to focus on important relief efforts and helping to successfully address this emergency," noted GeoSpace Labs CEO David Lady.
GeoSpace has released this update into all of its ELD systems at no cost and the update is immediately available.
"Having ELD technology properly configured eliminates barriers to relief efforts while at the same time continues to build on-going trust between law enforcement personnel and motor carrier drivers," Lady concluded.
