Georgia's Nonprofit Leaders To Convene In Atlanta May 20-21 For Nonprofit Summit 2013: Ignite Possible
Fresh mix of thought-provoking programs, individual consulting, awards presentation and networking headline annual event
ATLANTA, May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Nonprofit leaders from across Georgia will be converging at the Sheraton Atlanta for next week's Nonprofit Summit 2013: Ignite Possible. Presented annually since 1991 by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN), Nonprofit Summit is the largest gathering of nonprofits in the Southeast.
This year's edition will introduce a new program and scheduling format with a fresh mix of hands-on workshops and provocative TED Talks-style speaking engagements that showcase breakthrough thinking and activate collaborative partnerships.
"We've hit the refresh button," said GCN President and CEO Karen Beavor. "We've retired the panel presentation and are introducing the kind of spirited learning experiences that draw you in and get you thinking in new and unexpected ways."
Georgia's nonprofit sector represents nearly 11% of Georgia's gross state product, according to GCN's 2012 Economic Impact Report. The sector employs 231,000 people from 40,000 nonprofits, spanning every Georgia city and county, enhancing the economy of every community in our state. According to Beavor, the annual Summit presents opportunities for sector leaders to build capacity, expand impact, discuss shared challenges, and celebrate accomplishments.
"The arc of people's lives is spent in nonprofits, from the hospital where they were born to parks, ball leagues, fine arts and public broadcasting, and in many cases to senior organizations and hospices providing end-of-life care," said Beavor. "These organizations are led by incredibly smart people, and Nonprofit Summit is designed to help them grow and lead our sector."
This year, Nonprofit Summit attendees will attend two days of Ignite Presentations, featuring major thinkers, inventors and investors with a new idea; Breakthrough Sessions, living case studies on how to navigate complex decisions and strategies; and Solve-it Sessions, interactive individual and small-group discussions led by coaches and consultants on how to approach the big issues presented by individual organizations or the sector as a whole.
Additionally, Summit features the Nonprofit Expo, a festive Awards Luncheon honoring the 2013 Revolutions Awards winners and Harvard Business School of Atlanta's scholarships, along with an evening networking reception, and special programming for our inaugural Nonprofit Leaders 30 Under 30 cohort, in partnership with Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.
Registration is still open for Nonprofit Summit 2013. To register, view the schedule, or learn more about our award winners, visit www.nonprofitsummit.org.
