Georgia nonprofits raise a record-breaking $3.67 million on Georgia Gives Day 2015
Next Georgia Gives Day set for November 17, 2016
ATLANTA, Nov. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the clock struck midnight ending the fourth annual Georgia Gives Day, the tally stood at a record-breaking $3,673,562 in donations. More than 2,400 nonprofits across the state are celebrating the virtual outpouring of support from 17,318 Georgians—making November 12, 2015, the biggest giving day in the state's history. Donations ranged from $1 to $300,000, supporting nonprofits of all sizes and causes, from all corners of the state and beyond.
Thursday's success continues to build on the momentum from the first three years of Georgia Gives Day. Launched in 2012, the 24-hour fundraising blitz has grown year over year, raising more than $8.9 million and securing more than 54,000 donations. This year saw the most dramatic increase in giving yet, surpassing the 2014 campaign by $1.3 million. Participation amongst the state's nonprofits has also continued to rise, from 1,346 in 2012 to 2,453 in 2015.
"Yesterday's record level of generosity proved the truth of this year's campaign theme: on Georgia Gives Day, our community comes together 'For the Greater Good,'" said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, which hosts the annual event. "We saw donors across the state rallying to support the organizations committed to strengthening and enriching the communities in which we live and work. Together, we have created a powerful annual giving movement in Georgia that continues to grow."
GAgivesday.org is open for donations year-round, and starting today, organizations not currently participating will be able to enroll to leverage the site for end-of-year giving and participate in the next Georgia Gives Day on November 17, 2016.
