Announcing the 2013 Revolutions Awards winners:
2013 Revolutions Award for Outstanding Nonprofit Organization: to Kate's Club, for their extraordinary commitment to empower children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. Kate's Club provides social and emotional grief support services to children ages 5-18 in metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding areas at no cost to the child's family. By creating a safe and uplifting environment and providing them with critical skills to cope during a difficult and vulnerable time in their lives, Kate's Club has a positive impact on grieving youth, preparing them to be productive, healthy members of their families and communities.
2013 Revolutions Award for Outstanding Nonprofit Leader: to Wayne McMillan, President & CEO of Bobby Dodd Institute, for his leadership through a revolutionary change. In his thirteen years as CEO, McMillan has led BDI through dramatic growth and transformation in programs and social enterprises. McMillan has enlarged the shared sense of possibilities for people with disabilities and for BDI. He has succeeded by melding entrepreneurial spirit with commitment to individual dignity and social change.
2013 Revolutions Award for Outstanding Nonprofit Board Leader: to Allen Nelson, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & Chief Administrative Officer for Crawford & Co. and Board Chairman for the Atlanta Ballet. Having been on the Atlanta Ballet board since 2006 Nelson has been instrumental in the execution of the largest and most successful capital campaign in Atlanta Ballet history. Nelson's passion for the Atlanta Ballet is unparalleled. His genuine passion for ballet is evident in his substantial relationships of mutual respect and warmth with the dancers.
