Georgia Natural Gas® Donates More than $1.1 Million to Georgia Schools Through The TrueBlue Schools Program
GNG surpasses the half-way mark of its $2 million goal for Georgia schools
ATLANTA, Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Natural Gas® (GNG), Georgia's leading natural gas provider, announced today it has donated more than $1.1 million to Georgia schools through its fundraising program, TrueBlue Schools. The program was launched in 2008 with a goal of donating $2 million to help support schools throughout the state.
"We are particularly proud of the financial support this innovative program already has provided to schools," said GNG CEO Mike Braswell. "Consumers seem to appreciate the program's simplicity. We are pleased that so many of our customers want to support their local schools."
When a consumer becomes a customer of GNG and elects to participate in the program, a $5 donation is made to the school of his or her choice every month. Currently 1,007 of the 2,326 schools in the GNG service area earn donations from TrueBlue Schools. The top 10 earning schools as of the January 2012 payout are as follows:
1. Pope High School (Cobb County) $28,790
2. Christ the King School (Fulton County) $16,440
3. Northwestern Middle School (Fulton County) $16,360
4. Morris Brandon Elementary School (Fulton County) $13,115
5. Norcross High School (Gwinnett County) $12,765
6. Blessed Trinity Catholic High School (Fulton County) $12,270
7. Level Creek Elementary School (Gwinnett County) $11,860
8. Chattahoochee High School (Fulton County) $10,795
9. Peachtree Charter Middle School (DeKalb County) $10,390
10. Roswell High School (Fulton County) $ 9,955
TrueBlue Schools donations can be used to pay for anything schools need, including books, art and music programs, athletics, scholarships, classroom technology and more. "As we continue to deal with tough economic times, schools are always looking for ways to generate revenue to benefit their students," said State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge. "Georgia Natural Gas's TrueBlue Schools program is one of the easiest fundraisers I've come across. I would highly encourage principals and parents to consider getting their schools on board immediately to generate much-needed money."
All public and private elementary, middle and high schools in GNG's service area are included in the program, and any natural gas consumer who chooses GNG can participate. The more people who sign up with GNG and select a school, the more money the school receives. Once participants sign up, donations are automatic to the school. Current GNG customers are also eligible to participate.
