The initiative, which was officially declared Georgia Gives Day by Gov. Deal, provides citizens across the state with an easy platform to recognize nonprofits across a variety of sectors for their invaluable efforts. Inspired by other successful days of giving in states such as Washington, Colorado and Minnesota, GCN developed its own effort to promote community awareness and the mission of nonprofits that serve as the backbone for many communities across the state.
"Nonprofits touch nearly every part of our lives," said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of GCN. "We are very excited to give Georgians an opportunity to truly recognize the nonprofit organizations in their community and give where they live."
Georgia Gives Day is supported by a generous group of partners and corporate sponsors, including Cox Enterprises, Ames Scullin O'Haire Advertising, Encyclomedia, Edelman, Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Cox Media Group, Comcast, WXIA-TV, 11Alive, AutoTrader.com, Peachtree TV, Georgia Cable Association, The Coca-Cola Company, Mohawk, Wells Fargo, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, SunTrust Foundation, Community Foundation of Central Georgia, Clear Answer, Southwest Airlines, Georgia Power and Gas South.
"The holiday season is upon us and Georgia Gives Day is the perfect way to give a tribute to someone in your life or to recognize a cause that is personally important. With more than nine million citizens in the state, it is important that all Georgians know it only takes one click to give back," said Beavor. "
