Georgia CD-06 Candidate Kurt Wilson Adds U.S. Term Limit Pledge
After Qualifying, Republican Congressional Candidate Kurt Wilson Continues His Push For Term Limits
ROSWELL, Ga., Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kurt Wilson, Republican Candidate in Georgia's crowded Sixth District Congressional Special Election, has reiterated his commitment to the campaign's cornerstone policy of bringing a Constitutional Amendment for Term Limits on Members of Congress.
Wilson signed on to the pledge offered by U.S. Term Limits (USTL), based out of Washington, D.C., who advocates for term limits at all levels of government. Since it was established in the early 1990s, USTL has assisted in enacting and defending term limits on state legislatures in 15 states.
Adding his signature to USTL's growing list, Wilson officially qualified on Tuesday for Georgia's Special Election scheduled for April 18 to fill the seat vacated by former Congressman, Secretary Tom Price when he was confirmed to his new role in President Trump's Cabinet atop Health and Human Services. Kurt for Congress, Wilson's campaign, launched an introduction video on both his Facebook page and YouTube channel featuring a call for term limits.
"I am tired of the rancor in Washington, DC. I am tired of the rancor among candidates. A lot of politicians want to throw around ideas that are popular, like term limits. I am committed to term limits. I am regularly asked, why term limits when the bigger problem is lifting the onerous, over spending bureaucracy stifling our Country? How do term limits solve the bigger problem of an unchecked bureaucracy? It is simple, one body, Congress, has the authority to hold the bureaucracy accountable. Congress is vested with the authority to hold overspending, onerous agencies in check. We do not have a Congress willing to do this. Term limits are the mechanism that force elected officials to show the political courage and make the sweeping bureaucratic changes that eliminate deficit spending, balance the budget, spur private sector job creation and devolve the power of government back into the hands of local citizens," says Wilson.
On February 1, Kurt for Congress issued a pledge for term limits and challenged then likely candidates to sign on. None of those likely campaigns elected to do so but many have rolled term limits onto their platforms.
