NEW YORK, April 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The One Club (www.oneclub.org) announced today that George Takei, famed actor of the original Star Trek, will be the host of The One Show, the most prestigious worldwide competition celebrating the year's best in advertising.
With a career spanning five decades, George Takei is known around the world for his founding role in the acclaimed television series Star Trek, in which he played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the Starship Enterprise. Takei starred in three seasons of Star Trek and later reprised his iconic role in six movies. More recently, Takei won over a new generation of fans with his recurring guest role on the NBC-TV sci-fi drama Heroes as Kaito Nakamura, the father of time-traveler Hiro Nakamura. The versatile Takei is also co-developing a new Broadway musical called "Allegiance."

The One Show awards presentation will take place at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City on Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 during Creative Week 2013 (www.creativeweek.com). One Show Interactive will take place on Friday, May 10th, and One Show Design will take place on Monday, May 6th.
