FAIRFAX, Va., July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Fans attending EagleBank Arena's exciting lineup this fall — from George Mason University's men's and women's basketball teams, to Cirque du Soleil and Fall Out Boy — will enjoy an unprecedented wireless experience, thanks to a newly deployed, robust wireless network that provides unmatched streaming, sharing and voice connectivity throughout the 10,000-seat arena.
"As a result of feedback from our students and fans, we identified an opportunity with Mobilitie to provide an unparalleled wireless experience at EagleBank Arena," said Director of Athletics Brad Edwards. "We feel this partnership with Mobilitie will elevate the fan experience to a higher level, providing our fans the ability to stay connected and capture and share every moment in real time."
"We are thrilled to partner with Mason, an institution known for demanding the best in academics, athletics and in the facilities that support both," said Christos Karmis, president of Mobilitie. "With an impressive schedule of upcoming events at EagleBank, now is the most exciting time for this best-in-class network to come online."
"Mobilitie is the top provider of wireless networks at sporting and arena venues across the country because we design our networks to the most robust standards. This coverage is needed to support the mobile data power users at venues like EagleBank," Karmis said. "The EagleBank network will handle the traffic and bring a level of connectivity speed and capacity that will be appreciated by the thousands of Patriots supporters as they upload, tweet, stream and share."
Working with Mason Athletics and University Facilities teams to ensure seamless, ubiquitous and gapless coverage, Mobilitie designed and installed a distributed wireless network that includes dozens of small, digital antennas and remotes, and a mile of fiber and coax cable. The entire network is concealed by lights, steel beams and other structures to be virtually unnoticeable to fans and guests.
The result is a near-flawless wireless experience for spectators as they share real-time happenings on their data-using smartphones and other devices.
Mobilitie installed a distributed antenna system (DAS) network which, due to the advanced technology throughout it, provides broader, stronger coverage, faster connectivity, enhanced download and upload speeds and improved reliability in every corner of EagleBank Arena – while using less power.
