George Bush Foundation Announces Program For 25th Anniversary Celebration Of Bush Presidency Apr. 4-6
Highlights include exclusive Town Hall with Governor Jeb Bush; reflections on the Bush Administration's foreign and domestic policies; discussions on the future of technology and government; special performance by country music artist Clay Walker
COLLEGE STATION, Texas, March 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The George Bush Presidential Library Foundation announced programming and entertainment details today of its Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the George H. W. Bush Presidency at the Bush Presidential Library Center at Texas A&M University April 4-6.
This unique three-day event, which President and Mrs. Bush are scheduled to attend, will be a dynamic bipartisan forum where the past, present and future converge in timely discussions presented by a broad spectrum of respected thought leaders.
Key elements of the event include:
- Friday Afternoon, April 4: Series of panels led by former Governor John Sununu highlighting domestic achievements. Topics will include the 1990 Budget, working with Congress, the Clean Air Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Civil Rights legislation. Panelists include former White House staffers Ambassador C. Boyden Gray and Dr. Roger Porter, and Senator Tom Harkin, former Senator Alan Simpson and Dr. Ben Carson.
- Saturday Morning, April 5: Panel discussion on foreign policy under President Bush's leadership. Topics include the collapse of the Soviet Union, the reunification of Germany, the end of the Cold War and Desert Storm. Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will be joined by Ambassador Robert Kimmitt, Stephen Hadley, Dr. Richard Haass and Richard Kerr.
- Saturday Lunch, April 5: Fox News' Shannon Bream will moderate a discussion with Jon Meacham, Mark Updegrove and Jeff Engel - historians and authors of books focused on President Bush.
- Saturday Afternoon, April 5: These timely panels will look forward with Digital Pioneer Joe Trippi moderating discussions on how we govern in the digital age. Topics will include a technology briefing followed by a look at technology and governing, then a look at geopolitics, diplomacy and warfare in the digital age. Panelists will include executives from Yahoo and Google as well as experts from the Departments of Defense and State.
- Saturday Night, April 5: Platinum-selling country music recording artist Clay Walker will perform for guests at a Texas BBQ.
- Sunday Morning, April 6: The celebration will conclude with a Town Hall meeting featuring former Governor Jeb Bush in an exclusive interview with Fox News' Shannon Bream. Shannon's program, "America's News Headquarters," will originate live at noon from the George Bush Presidential Library Center.
