BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Oct. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GEODIS was a finalist for the 12th Annual Supply Chain Innovation Award presented by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). The nominated project, developed by GEODIS in partnership with Emerson Healthcare, is a multi-layered consolidation program that takes an innovative approach to the standard retailer consolidation model.
This inventive multi-layered consolidation is accomplished through Emerson and GEODIS's unique model, which benefit both the retailer and the Emerson client. Emerson customer's orders are consolidated through GEODIS' strategic placement of GEODIS' fulfillment centers, which are in close proximity to its consolidation centers. From these fulfillment centers, GEODIS consolidates the freight of Emerson Healthcare's customers and then further consolidates the LTL shipments with additional GEODIS customers, totaling more than 100 different accounts. Emerson and GEODIS work together to provide the clients visibility throughout the logistics processes, and clients even maintain control of the inventory levels and pricing.
The Freight Consolidation Services offering has helped Emerson and GEODIS provide customers with increased savings, improved retailer compliance, and a decreased carbon footprint. Customers are seeing an average of 10 to 15% savings through this program compared to traditional LTL services.
"We are proud of the teams that have been a part of developing and implementing the Freight Consolidation Services program for Emerson and to be recognized by CSCMP for the project is a major accomplishment," stated Randy Tucker, CEO and President for Contract Logistics at GEODIS in the USA. "Being one of six finalists for the Supply Chain Innovation Award demonstrates our commitment to our clients, which is to continuously innovate in order to help them succeed by overcoming logistical constraints."
