Generals Hill, Hawkins and Wooton Join root9B Advisory Board; Senior National Cyber Experts Join root9B Staff
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- root9B today announced the appointment of three decorated military leaders as new members of its Advisory Board. root9B, a root9B Technologies Company (OTCQB: RTNB), is a leading provider of advanced cybersecurity services and training for commercial and government clients.
Joining the root9B Advisory Board are:
- Gen. James T. Hill (Army), the former Combatant Commander, United States Southern Command, commanding all U.S. military forces in Central and South America and the Caribbean. General Hill is currently the President of the JT Hill Group, a consulting group focused on strategic leadership and national security issues.
- Lt. Gen. Ronnie D. Hawkins, Jr. (Air Force), the former Director of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Commander, Joint Force Headquarters – Department of Defense Information Networks (DODIN), Fort Meade, MD. General Hawkins led DISA's reorganization to focus on defensive cyberspace operations and assuring secure implementation of cloud capabilities. General Hawkins also served as Commander, JFHQ-DoD Information Networks. General Hawkins currently serves as President of the Hawkins Group.
- Brig. Gen. Kevin B. Wooton (Air Force), the former Principal Deputy Director, Integrated Air, Space, Cyberspace and ISR Operations. General Wooton's experience includes 20 years of senior leadership in network operations and cyber defense.

In addition to new members of its Advisory Board, root9B also announced that two senior national cyber experts have joined its staff, effective immediately:
- Will Burns has joined root9B as its Senior Technical Director. Mr. Burns has more than 20 years of expert technical experience in the Cryptology, Intelligence, and Information technology fields. He pioneered the Computer Network Operations program for the National Security Agency and served as the Mission Director for all Computer Network Operations within the National Security Agency. As one of a handful of NSA Certified Master Computer Network Operations (CNO) Operators, Mr. Burns has led several "first-ever" cyber events. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
- Geoff Mefford has joined root9B as Vice President of Training. Mr. Mefford has more than 20 years of experience in Cyber Operations and has also served as a certified Computer Network Operator at the National Security Agency. Mr. Mefford is a retired U.S. Air Force Senior Network Warfare Operator. His breadth of experience includes serving as a Master Training Instructor and Senior Intelligence Analyst supporting strategic intelligence collection missions and special operations forces. Before joining root9B, Mr. Mefford served as Executive Director, Cyber Security at JPMorgan Chase and Co.
