General Motors Joins ASQ as an Enterprise Member
Membership will help support automaker's quality functions globally
MILWAUKEE, Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motors' employees charged with making the automaker a quality leader in every segment and market where it competes can now tap the resources of ASQ, the world's largest network of quality resources and experts.
GM became an Enterprise member of ASQ on Tuesday, joining 42 other global companies, many from the Fortune 500. The official signing ceremony was part of the GM global quality all-employee meeting.
"We see great value in our ASQ membership, especially the opportunity to share best practices across industries," said Dan Nicholson, vice president of GM Global Quality. "These collaborative efforts will support our customer focus and foster a stronger quality culture at GM." Nicholson will serve as an expert and participate in ASQ's 2011 Future of Quality Study.
By becoming an Enterprise member, every employee in GM around the world receives full ASQ membership benefits. Included is access to ASQ's Knowledge Center, consisting of thousands of articles, case studies and best practices; as well as to ASQ's networking opportunities and certification programs. Additional membership benefits include access to quality tools that allow an organization to realize greater productivity and performance, apply process improvement techniques more widely, and use quality as a business management tool.
"We are proud to serve as a resource to one of the world's leading automakers," says Paul Borawski, ASQ CEO. "General Motors and ASQ are committed to quality, and we will work to support GM's goal of achieving quality leadership in all of its markets."
