General Dynamics Healthcare Reporting Software Receives HEDIS Certification for Nineteenth Year
FAIRFAX, Va., June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has received National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) Software Certification(SM) for Version 14.0 of its MedMeasures™ software. Approximately 90 percent of all managed care organizations use HEDIS measures to promote accountability, streamline measurement and evaluate provider performance. The annually updated MedMeasures application has received certification every year since the introduction of the HEDIS Software Certification process in 1993.
MedMeasures is an efficient software tool for users in health plan organizations to complete HEDIS and state quality reporting and to identify year-round healthcare quality improvement opportunities within specified provider and patient populations. These organizations benefit from MedMeasures' HEDIS Certification because it eliminates the need for users to develop and audit the software code which calculates HEDIS scores - increasing efficiencies and saving valuable time and resources.
"General Dynamics' MedMeasures helps commercial health payers reduce reliance on over-extended information technology and quality management staff, deliver accurate and timely quality measurement information and ensure on-time HEDIS reporting," said Marcus Collier, senior vice president for General Dynamics Information Technology's Health and Civilian Solutions Division. "Receiving certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for our software solution gives health payers a running start in implementing continuous and effective quality improvement programs to better serve health care providers and plan members."
MedMeasures provides detailed investigation and analysis by integrating administrative and medical chart data. It automates critical steps in the HEDIS process by eliminating manual source code review, as well as the analysis, coding and testing of the annual updates to stated specifications. Additionally, the software enables users to integrate data across multiple sources into a single repository, validate it to maximize the accuracy of HEDIS rates and deliver reports in real-time to plan administrators, providers and patients.
The NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of managed care organizations, managed behavioral healthcare organizations, physician organizations and credentials verification organizations. HEDIS is a set of standardized performance measures designed to ensure that purchasers and consumers have the information they need to reliably compare the performance of managed health care organizations.
