General Dynamics Awarded Ogden Air Logistics Center Design Engineering Support Program Contract

FAIRFAX, Va., March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a Design Engineering Support Program (DESP) III contract by Ogden Air Logistics Center (OO-ALC), Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The five-year multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a potential value of $1.9 billion to all 26 awardees.

Through this contract, General Dynamics will provide engineering and high-level technical support services for all Air Force Materiel Command weapons systems, components and support equipment, as well as implement integrated engineering systems to reduce technology lifecycle costs. General Dynamics will also oversee the operational life, performance, safety and environmental sustainability of engineering systems and provide education and training support for the systems.

This contract is a competitive follow-on to the DESP II contract. General Dynamics supported several Air Force Materiel Command task orders on DESP II including the Propulsion Environmental Working Group's sustainable initiatives for depots at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Okla.; T-38 system modifications for the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; and A-10 Wing Replacement Program Engineering Support at the OO-ALC. General Dynamics has also supported the Air Force product and logistics centers in engineering and managing aircraft modifications by conducting studies on operational suitability and sustainability engineering, helping with the depot industrial modernization plan to improve environmental safety and providing software engineering.
