General Dynamics Awarded Navy Medicine Research Support Services Contract
FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been selected by the Army Contracting Command as one of the awardees for the Omnibus III contract to provide medical research support services. Through this contract, General Dynamics will provide personnel, materials, equipment, limited facilities, science and technology that will sustain medical research efforts.
The Navy Medicine Research contract is a five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, multiple-award contract with a total potential value of $497 million to all awardees if all options are exercised.
In addition to providing the support to sustain medical research efforts, General Dynamics will work with Navy Medicine teams to address a range of processes including procedures for basic university research, vaccine development, clinical trials and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigational new drug application processing.

The U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) serves as headquarters command for Navy Medicine, which provides health care services to beneficiaries in both wartime and peacetime. Navy Medicine personnel deploy to care for Sailors and Marines abroad as well as provide healthcare services for uniformed services' family members and retirees at military facilities worldwide.
